50 states with snow, not 49

I keep hearing this news story about snow in 49 states, always excluding Hawaii. Why are they excluding Hawaii? There's snow on Mauna Kea.

Oh--my mistake for assuming. They checked. just there, specifically, to see if it was an even 50. No snow on Mauna Kea.

But click the live webcam "North Camera". Doesn't that look like a little bit of snow, a distant small square in what's visible through those clouds? This is the only webcam that I can see showing Mauna Kea itself--all the others I can find are FROM Mauna Kea.
