So what were your thoughts on the State of the Union speech last night as well as the Republican response?

I thought Obama did what he does best, gave people hope. He's still a liar, but he does have a way of making people believe in him (I don't, was just thinking many will). I hope the American people can see past the BS and not fall in love with him again.
I think his speech was shocking. I didn't expect that much move to the center stuff. He still had his fair share of extreme left moments, but he sure was trying to please the moderates last night.
The Bush blaming was ridiculous, and his math on the deficit is different from every other source I've heard.
I did not think the Republican response was really a response, but more of a "here's our speech."

I thought it was more of the same old, same old - arrogant, condescending and " I am the only right one". His attack on the Supreme Court and his lackeys response was reprehensible! He should be ashamed - but I guess he won't be. Maybe he'll invite the Supremes over for a beer

I would rate his speech a very low D-, due to it reminded me of the campaign and again blaming the last eight years for the miss he "inherited". I was most disappointed in that he failed to give a shout out to those officers he invited that stopped the Fort Hood attack to an end. He called out Bidens wife, and of course his own wife for charitable work, but never said anything about the police officers who stopped the attacks at Fort Hood and HE (or who ever) invited them. Lame dumbass.

After I was shocked into speechlessness by seeing him--ACTUALLY SEEING and HEARING HIM!!!--look into the camera and say that his administration was notable for not hiring any lobbyists, my suspicions were confirmed:
America is now being run by a GENUINE sociopath.

After I was shocked into speechlessness by seeing him--ACTUALLY SEEING and HEARING HIM!!!--look into the camera and say that his administration was notable for not hiring any lobbyists, my suspicions were confirmed: America is now being run by a GENUINE sociopath. 'Red State' kindly provides us with a list: Barack Obama LIED! Posted by Erick Erickson (Profile) Wednesday, January 27th at 10:34PM EST Tonight, Barack Obama said, “To close that credibility gap we must take action on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue to end the outsized influence of lobbyists; to do our work openly; and to give our people the government they deserve. “That’s what I came to Washington to do. That’s why – for the first time in history – my Administration posts our White House visitors online. And that’s why we’ve excluded lobbyists from policy-making jobs or seats on federal boards and commissions.” Maybe this explains why his national security policies are so weak. He put William Lynn in the Pentagon as Deputy Defense Secretary. Mr. Lynn was a lobbyist for Defense Contractor Ratheon. I guess the Deputy Defense Secretary is not a policy-making job. But it is not just Lynn. - Eric Holder, attorney general nominee, was registered to lobby until 2004 on behalf of clients including Global Crossing, a bankrupt telecommunications firm [now confirmed].
Tom Vilsack, secretary of agriculture nominee, was registered to lobby as recently as last year on behalf of the National Education Association.
William Lynn, deputy defense secretary nominee, was registered to lobby as recently as last year for defense contractor Raytheon, where he was a top executive.
William Corr, deputy health and human services secretary nominee, was registered to lobby until last year for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, a non-profit that pushes to limit tobacco use.
David Hayes, deputy interior secretary nominee, was registered to lobby until 2006 for clients, including the regional utility San Diego Gas & Electric.
Mark Patterson, chief of staff to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, was registered to lobby as recently as last year for financial giant Goldman Sachs.
Ron Klain, chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden, was registered to lobby until 2005 for clients, including the Coalition for Asbestos Resolution, U.S. Airways, Airborne Express and drug-maker ImClone.
Mona Sutphen, deputy White House chief of staff, was registered to lobby for clients, including Angliss International in 2003.
Melody Barnes, domestic policy council director, lobbied in 2003 and 2004 for liberal advocacy groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, the American Constitution Society and the Center for Reproductive Rights.
Cecilia Munoz, White House director of intergovernmental affairs, was a lobbyist as recently as last year for the National Council of La Raza, a Hispanic advocacy group.
Patrick Gaspard, White House political affairs director, was a lobbyist for the Service Employees International Union.
Michael Strautmanis, chief of staff to the president’s assistant for intergovernmental relations, lobbied for the American Association of Justice from 2001 until 2005

I forced myself to watch this. Even five minutes before this lying fascist spoke I was still dithering about whether or not I could watch this thing without my head exploding.
He started by continuing the almost transcendentally arrogant line that he had not explained the healthcare bill well enough, in other words so many people are against it because they "don't get it," when in fact they are against it because they DO get it. Does he really believe this at this point? I honestly don't know. I heard Krauthammer and at least one other on the Fox news panel voice their own lack of surety about whether or not Obama believes what he's spouting. They were voicing my thoughts, and I could see on their faces that they weren't being smug, or wry, or sarcastic or facetious--they really couldn't be sure if he believed what he was saying any longer.
Somewhere in the audience there was a chorus of gasps and indrawn breaths at the "I haven't appointed any lobbyists" whopper. That stunned me as well.
I hope they continue trying to ram that healthcare power-grab through. Let them do it, with Republicans fighting the good fight for the people every step of the way. That will keep voter fury well stoked throuigh November, and every Republican will run explicitly on repeal. Nearly the whole House might turn Republican. Then in 2012, the Republican candidate can also run explicitly on repeal, and will win. The fury at this attempted power grab is so great that you can be sure that Obama will create even more single-issue voters among independents and a good chunk of Dems. I think at this point, Republicans can have their cake and eat it too: a Republican takeover of both chambers (the Senate by 2012) and the Presidency in 2012, AND complete repeal of this "healthcare" bill (should it become law) before it does much damage.
This one issue makes the Republicans the de facto party on the side of the people and the Dem party the adversary of the people. We all know this has always been so, but as so many others have pointed out the Dems have been willing to more openly show themselves for the autocrats they've always been. Thus healthcare.
Oh--whoever advised Obama to throw in gays in the military was the best friend Republicans ever had in his group to date. This has got to be the last political conversation the electorate wants to have now. And it's strongly reminiscent of Clinton's first days in office, and that move has always been widely viewed as a stupid expense of political capital. Although I think Obama is really trying to pretend that he has any political capital left to lose. It's stunning to see, but we could be looking at a first-year lame duck.
When the next inevitable successful Islamic terrorist attack occurs on Obama's deliberately weak and lax watch--it'll have to be really big and I think will have to hit civillians; it's hard to believe Fort Hood wasn't enough, in fact by any measure of common sense warmaking we should be more concerned about any successful attacks on our military than civilian populace, but I guess people can be really stupid enough to demand 1000s dead before they pay attention--when that occurs, Obama will be the first black American President twice--because then he'll be the color of toast.

The spousal unit is actually meeting 2 congressmen & one of the Supremes tomorrow. He is wondering what he should ask. I told him to ask, "On a scale of 1 to 10, how much did Obama tick you off last night?"

CINCO (comrade-in-chief obama) didn't give any hope. It was all smoke and mirrors. The lobbyists that have become part of the policy making process for the economic team of this administration have all come from either the Federal Reserve or Goldman Sachs. CINCO has no clue about economics with the single exception of his arrogant theft of hard earned income all the while blaming those who support his presidential bid and now fill his top advisory posts. He is a liar and charlatan. His condescension to the Supreme Court was appalling and heinous as anything I've witnesses. This individual does not deserve the privilege of serving this nation as president. His les and treachery are going to destroy this country - and that is his goal.
