Yep, a great day. Now let's see how the dems and media spin it.

We will all look back on this event as the beginning of the end of the short, inglorious Bammy administration.
In addition, we will all look back on this moment as the time that liberalism as a whole went into an eclipse that may last a generation.
At a similar low point in his administration, Boy Clinton changed course, tacked right, and rescued his presidency.
Bammy does not have it in him to 're-invent' himself like that. Clinton was governor of an essentially conservative state, so he could not afford to be a hardened ideological leftist if he wanted to succeed. Obama was a community organizer in the most ultra-left-wing neighborhoods of a corrupt, ultra-left-wing city, and that's about IT. He's a committed, all-or-nothing leftist, and would never bring in a Dick Morris type to move in a rightward direction.
He's finished, whatever happens between now and 2012.

I'd say before we break out the champagne, we see what will happen.
Personally, I would not be the least bit surprised to see that Dems have been courting Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, or other RINOs behind the scenes to change their political affiliation, restoring the 60-seat majority.
As much as I hate to say it, we need to wait and see what will happen. With closed-door meetings on transparency, back-room sales of key votes, and a desire to hold power for as long as possible, I think the corruption in the Senate is too great to allow a special election in Massachusetts to tilt the balance.

A personal reflection on this....
What happened last night reminded me exactly WHY America deserves to be the leader of the free world, and should stand as an example for similarly-minded peoples all over the world.
Why?
Because a government offered the population all kinds of free stuff from the government, and the PEOPLE turned them down!
This is counter-intuitive over most of the world: in Europe and in the recent past even in Canada, the party wins that waves all kinds of free government welfare programs in front of the voters, to the extent that most citizens of these nations have come to regard such freebies as the chief function of government.
I thank God there are still enough free citizens in the United States that regard this sort of thing as WRONG and DEGRADING, and contrary to what it means to be a free citizen in a democratic republic.
Again, America has shown the world the way.
Thanks for that, guys!

I predict that the loony left and the current configuration of the Dem party as its main tool in government will be ended--for a good long time, anyhow--as a public force to be taken seriously NOT so much by what any conservative says or does, but by the extremist actions and words of obama, pelosi, reid et al.

damn good prediction cc...they have shot, bayonetted and self-detonated their agenda of central government planning and control. Just look at where that fruitcake frank went this morning. He's decided that Brown needs to be seated immediately and that the dems need to restart the healthcare legislation...duh. It is for all the looney left that the bell tolls...

Rev! It's so good to see you here too, and Milli. And Arch. And Earl (and how's that fantastic family of yours?) And Min. And Wolf. And everyone. It's kind of like The Stand. But is this Cebola (Las Vegas) or Boulder? I'm kind of hoping Vegas. It's the devil in me.
After what we saw last night, I think all models on turnover in the House in midterms are out the window for Nov '10. We could be looking at crazy numbers, history-making numbers of Dem seats lost, maybe 70+. This is history in the making.

As Rush just pointed out:
This election means that now EVERY Democrat seat is or can be in play for November: no such thing as a safe Democrat seat any more [except perhaps the San Francisco Bay Area: I think Pelosi will have that area locked down for as long as she wants it].

Rush is on point...next up...New York! I wonder how many dems have to be replaced before Obama will realize that he is on a sinking ship that is being driven by his ego.
